“I tend to work longer hours than most people. So I tend to be kind of like the last one to leave and the first one in. So kind of, put the shutters down and switch off the windows and stuff like that. ”

“I probably know at least half of the people [working here]. It's funny, it's people who tend to keep regular hours, […] like a 9-to-5, which is bread-and-butter job. And then there are other people who […] come in weekends and evenings, and we don't see them as much. And yeah, there's a few of us, especially ones who came from the old studio who are quite close. ”

“There's a couple of other set designers who are in here, so we all know each other. There's some other people in here who have ended up working on shows that I've done, maybe like costume makers [...] but like, employed through companies, if you like.”

“First I was in a smaller space […] and then I started kind of having assistants on a more regular basis, and it was a bit cosy in there for, like, you know, two desks. So then [one of the tenants] moved out, so we just did the swap. And it's perfect actually; this is a great size for me. And it's quiet in this bit of the building.”

“So normally, three [models] fits quite well [in this space]. […] I don't normally have them stacked on top of the printer. But yeah, I can see it [the space] for my future needs. And because there's different sized spaces in here as well, that's quite good. So you can have a conversation with [one of the managers] and say like... yeah, and if there's a bigger one [space] coming up, that's really useful.”

“What I've always loved about Many [Studios] compared to other sort of design studios that I've seen is, it's like, really presentable. It feels like a professional workspace. It's not like, bits of falling down ceiling and like artists doing stuff in the corner. […] you make your own chaos in the space, but then it's like, I can bring a director here or a producer, and we can sit down and look at a model. ”

“I feel like it [the rent] might have gone up a little bit, but I think it's really reasonable compared to like, other studio spaces in the city. [...] Heating's included, your internet's included, your light's included. It is 24/7 access, it's safe, it's clean. It's like... I think it's very good value actually. And it's a lot cheaper than when we were in Many Studios in Miller Street. We moved and it was nearly like, half the price. I got kind of like, a much bigger studio for a really similar price.”

“It doesn't really make any difference where I am. But it's important for me to have a physical space, to have a physical address that is a business address. ”

“I built that unit which is meant to be nicely organised. So it's on wheels […] But I've never moved it. And I put the shelves up, and I'm thinking about putting actually more shelves along here or up there. Just because quite a few of my old models, I keep them if they're shows that I think might go on tour again.”
