“There’s a lot of natural light, it's spacious, I’ve got my own individual area here, and it's local to where I live. […] one thing I’ve noticed about it is it's fairly quiet.”

“I have a 4-day-a-week job, so I never work Thursdays. So Thursdays I’m in here all day, and then one day in a weekend I’m here, and then probably like an evening or two.”

“I’m interested in kind of pattern, line, narrative, colour, literature... all of the above really. Medium wise, I screen print a lot, which I produce from original pen and ink drawings, and I’m getting more and more into painting, so I’ve got a show coming up in November, so I’m feverishly trying to produce stuff for that.”

“I managed to access this space through [the managers] you just submit some work that you’re doing and just sort of have a blurb, and tell them what you’re thinking, how you’re using the space.”

“It's an interesting area. It's affordable, I mean you can't really get the kind of sort of the amenities and the quality of space that you have [here] much cheaper. And Elephant and Castle's got a bit - quite a buzz about it as well, it's an interesting place to be in.”

“I used to go [to the café], I think it's closed down now, cause of all the development going on here. But there’s that shipping container, the artworks. That was really good, and they had some great stuff in there. And there was this Mauritian food, which was incredible, I used to get that all the time.”

“Although we don’t talk to people too much [here], there are sort of regular get-togethers, and there’s socials, so there is a community here. […] I know a couple of people. I mean people tend to sort of come and go. I’ve been here about a year and a half - but that’s quite a long time, I think. Most people are here for like maybe 5-6 months. I think it gets more difficult, cause you’ve got to be ready to make that leap to do it full-time […] I don’t really invite people over here - [only] friends from time to time.”

“You kind of end up doing things that are sort of local, so there’s markets and fairs around here, like in Mercado Metropolitano - so you run by the crafty fox. So, they run the market there, and I get involved in that quite a lot, and actually, I’m one of the artists which they kind of promote, so I do that quite often. I’m doing it next weekend actually.”

“I had an exhibit in the café, and there was a Christmas fair as well, which was hosted by Hotel Elephant; they do that every now and then. And there’s an open studio event as well.”

“I communicate my work on my website, Instagram, trying to do a bit more on the kind of content for blogging, that’s something I wanna do more of: markets, and wholesale.”

“One thing I’ve noticed about it [the studio] is it's fairly quiet. But I guess because you’ve got multiple people in here. If everyone was banging out their own tunes and it was all different, it'd be a cacophony; so like you wear headphones, and listen to music rather than blast it out, and actually, I’ve brought a guitar here as well and I don’t think that'd go down too well [...] In terms of getting my work done, I actually really like just having my own little zone.”
